Software Engineer (Product)

What would I do at Dentally?

It's pretty simple. We have too many ideas. We have lots of features that we'd like to add to Dentally while continuing to provide great support to our fast growing customer base.

With a good experience of shipping high quality software, you'll be iterating quickly on features and services that dental practices depend upon. You'll be given autonomy and independence when writing your own code and will be expected to manage your own projects. That said, we work as a close knit team so you'll also be involved in other projects and will collaborate with the rest of the team to ship features.


  • The core Dentally product is a Ruby on Rails application with an Ember JS frontend. We use Postgres and Redis for most of our storage.
  • Our iOS app is built upon Apache Cordova and uses our public API.
  • We use C# and Objective C for our lightweight imaging connectors that run natively.
  • Our infrastructure runs entirely within Amazon Web Services and we have a continuous deployment service to keep things moving.

What are we looking for in a candidate?

We don't need you to be familiar with any of these technologies, require a certain number of years experience or a university degree, but you should be able to impress us with your engineering ability. We are interested in people who have strong product experience, people who have spent a lot of time paying attention to the finer details about what really matters to customers. You should care about scalability and availability, if Dentally stops working then so do our customers.

Customer Success

We're looking for a talented individual to join our technical support team at Dentally. As part of our growing team, you will help our customers have the best experience using the leading cloud-based dental practice management software!


You will interact with our customers through email, phone and in person. You're a great match if you enjoy delivering outstanding customer support, possess fantastic trouble-shooting skills and have excellent interpersonal skills to be able to help on board new users.


  • Excellent customer service skills – the ability to be empathetic, proactive, resourceful and detail oriented
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral - You must be able to articulate technical jargon in in a way that is understandable by both new and experienced users
  • Able to make decisions and solve problems
  • Ability to empower users to support themselves using our online documentation
  • An appreciation for easy to use, intuitive software
  • Ability to evaluate, troubleshoot, and follow-up on customer issues as well as replicate and document for further escalation
  • A desire to learn, master and teach
  • A team player who can follow and lead when required
  • Helping others succeed makes you happy

Experience/Desired Skills (not all are required)

  • Basic knowledge of various computer platforms; Windows & OS X
  • Solid experience in helping customers resolve technical queries
  • Prior customer service role experience is a must
  • Experience in supporting SaaS applications
  • Experience in the dental industry is a bonus
